I have bought a TRV but can not fit it to the radiator because the existing shut off valve is shorter.

If the TRV was put on the radiator it would extend about 15mm beyond the pipe coming up from the floor.

Is there some way round this?

Thanks

Ah, good suggestion. I have left out a vital bit of information though. There is a right angle involved here. So apologies.

Pipe comes from floor vertically, the current shut off type valve does a right angle and goes directly into the radiator.

The TRV has an adaptor which goes into rad' with a short piece of pipe which connects to the TRV via a compression joint.

When the adaptor is connected to the TRV it comes horizontally out of the Rad, the other end of the TRV is at right angles going therefore vertically.

The vertical of the TRV is about 15mm horizontally away from the pipe coming vertically from the floor.

Does that better explain my problem?

This would be so much easier with a diagram.
