hi just looking for a little advice. i am fitting a metal faced dimmer i have 2 wires from old swtch and the wall box is earthed. i need to earth the dimmer switch to the wall box can i do this using a bit of wire from a extension cable or do i have to get some proper earth cable? the local diy stores only seem to sell earth cable in reels and i only need 10cm at most! thanks for any help

In the absence of a bit of single earth. Just snip a bit from a piece of 1.5 twin and sleeve as normal

The circuit cable would normally be 1 or 1.5 mm

13 amp extension leads are usually 1.5 mm flexible and this may be embossed on the cable

so yes would be suitable
