Hi,

We moved in to a new house a few months ago and the Mrs didn't like the fire surround.

We have recently purchased a used granite fireplace of ebay that is in great condition.

The fireplace it's self is gas so we will have to get that disconnected and reconnected buy registered gas technician but I am hoping to fit the fire surround myself.

The fire surround comes in 5 pieces.
The Hearth
Two side pillars
The top pillar and the mantle.

There are no brackets on any of the pieces for mounting the unit apart from some wires hanging out of the top of the side pillars. I have a feeling these may have been wrapped round some screws which were fixed in too the mounting wall.

First of all I'm after some advice on how such a heavy piece of kit can be safely secured to the wall, do I use the wires? And secondly what type of bonding material should I use to fix it to the wall?

Any help greatly appreciated

Thanks
Darren

Hi Thanks everyone for their thoughts and feedback.
I light of the TV be much lighter than originally thought I decided to give the it a go and pop it on the wall.
This seems to have been a success, I hung it on the wall and have applied about 50% of my body weight as well and its very solid. I think this is helped by the bracket being so slimline and close to the wall.

Will monitor it for the next few days but it all looks good.
