I have successfully fitted a Hive on my own boiler that had a Salus sender unit but my daughter has an even older 28si which hasn't even been fitted with a separate room thermostat. My question is can a Hive be fitted to it. I am quite capable at understanding wiring diagrams but before going any further I wondered if it's compatible with Hive.

Yes, it should be straightforward - although, just checking, is it a combi?

The good thing about an old boiler, is that often the electrical connections are accessible, without disturbing the room sealing of the boiler.

Under the cover, there is the ST8 connector block...

With a 3 core and earth cable, you would connect ST8 N, to the single channel Hive receiver N.
LS to Hive L.
LR to Hive terminal 3.
Add a short link wire between Hive L and terminal 1.
And connect the earth wires to their respective earth terminals.

The C/H timer on the boiler should also be set to continuous/on.
