Hi Ive been to a job today to fit some fiberous plaster of paris coving it was delivered yesterday.

The cove is very soft and can be marked with a thumb nail, If we even try and move it, cut it etc it just breaks up and cracks, the back of the cove is still "wet" to the point where you can push it around with your thumb.

We contacted the supplier who said he has sold thousands of this coving and his fitters always fit it like this?!

Can anyone shed some light on this please the supplier is just an arrogant ****e who got all defencive and wouldnt offer any advice.

He stated the cove should be like this because it is flexible and wont suck all the moisture out of the adhesive which to some extent I agree with but the coving is all damaged etc just from unwrapping it.

A bloke who lived in my road made fibrous plaster cornice and ceiling roses etc. We bought ours from him at the time.

It is difficult to move around wet due to the weight but you soon get the hang of it.

The cornice(coving) was fitted while still wet as your supplier stated . Fixing, repairs/joints made with plaster of paris and scrim where needed.

This might help http://www.uk.bondsplastermouldings.com/page.php/fixing_instructions

Could help you, perhaps, if you gave a little more info. - any pics of whats been supplied and where its to be fixed?
Is this fresh work or a matching up?

ajstoneservices,

that was a good ref. you put up, but there's an awful lot more to fixing or matching up than indicated in the installation instructions, and materials and tools req'd.

Not sure of the condition of yours but it is fitted damp so it does not dry in the adhesive etc too quickly.
