I've got a shutter frame that I want to fit into a window recess. Because the frame is quite deep and the sides of the recess are chamfered there is a gap of approx 35mm between the recess wall and the front of the frame uprights (see pic). Also the sides of the recess are not straight so this gap is variable (by 8mm).
I'm thinking to fix 2 wooden blocks into the wall each side and secure the frame to these. Then get some decorative beading to fill in most of the gap and finish off the rest with filler.
Is there a better way to do this - perhaps using mortar and or plaster to create a tight fit and then securing the frame to this?
