Usually the tiles give good enough fixings for a shower screen. But what if the shower is panelled with the plastic panelling? That is hollow in sections.
All depends on what's behind it. Is is a shower tray, so it's floor standing screen?
If so, then as long as the wet wall is secured well onto the supporting wall then good quality plugs, decent sized screws and a good quality silicone behind the wall channel and let it all set before the screen is fitted. The tray takes all the weight so the wall fixings are just to hold it in place rather than take a lot of the weight.
So it's an L shaped enclosure with one side that has a door, framed or frameless? Similar to this?
If so then the tray will take the weight and the wall holds it steady, so the silicone approach with larger plugs and screws would be my approach. The ideal would have been to have batons in the wall where the enclosure would be fitted of course
It can easily be a 1 man job though 2 can make things easier of course. The glass end panel would go on first then the frame with the door would be fitted with the wall panel in first and then the door panel and L frame swung onto the end panel, if that makes sense.
I always put a small line of silicone at the back of the wall fixed channel though it shouldn't need it but in this case it will help with securing the frame to the panels.
