hi guys got to lay a ring main in the kitchen prior to dabbing some boards on and was wondering if you sink to trunking also do you have any problems fixing the trunking to thermalite block as i was concerned nails would pop out many thanks tim
or get some yellow plugs and a 5mm screwdriver.. ( I presume that thermalite is the stuff you can carve out with a fingernail? )..
use the screwdriver ( or drill if you really must ) to make the hole for the plug, then nail the clip into the plug.. works great if you buy meaty plugs and not these tri-plug rubbish..
Thermalite blocks will take a 2" screw directly without the need for a rawlplug - but it's essential to 'pilot' the block first with a 3mm bradawl.
Not to be recommended for holding shelves up, of course, but more than adequate for pinning back conduit etc.
Tim: yes you should cut a shallow channel in the blockwork if you're using conduit, capping etc, otherwise you'll waste adhesive in trying to bump-out the board.
