Hi;

I have a 1930s house and having just ripped out the kitchen once the plasterer has skimmed the walls I will be fitting skiriting boards.

What is the best method of fixing them? I would like to screw them to the walls but screwheads are unsightly and how on earth do you match up the location of a raw plug??

Iv'e seen a few posts that mention Grip Fix and Grip Fill what are these? how good are they and where can you buy them in the UK?

You can:
Fix the boards in place with an adhesive like No More Nails (Grip Fix equiv);
Use masonry nails;
Use traditional plastic plugs, drilling through the timber first and then into the wall, countersinking the timber hole so the screw head won't be visible and will be polyfilla'd in afterwards;
Use 6mm dia frame fixings, again countersinking the timber hole for filling;
Its up to you really - whatever you feel comfortable with! I prefer the frame fixings, personally.
