have painted hall stairs and landing and two walls have started to flake and the paint peels off

Paint with what?

What was the surface like before

Is it just your paint thats come off or paint below it?

Is/was the wall damp

How old is the house

Was it previoulsy painted

So many factors can cause flaking

did you seal it first. im no expert but my paint is atarting to pell over new plaster. follwed plasterers advice and painted straight onto it. guess it needed sealing first. plasterer has caused more harm than good

Yours didnt need 'sealing' as such...just a thinned out mist coat first.
