flames escaping

Hi

Before you say get a new boiler, I am! its just gonna take a week or so.

The problem we have at the mo is esaping flames from the main boiler housing (heat exchanger bit i think) it looks like the seal has corroded and some flames are escaping. Not big flames you understand but enough to be of concern.
what i want to know is, is there anything i can use as a temporary seal, i.e some heat resistant cement or something.

ok thanks i;ll turn it off and forget about it till i get a new one fitted. the flames only escape after its been on about an hour or so

thats crazy. it should have been swicthed off long ago. flames should never be that condition and never even come close to escaping from a boiler. If its under poss pressure fumes WILL be escaping its just a question of how much damage has been donw. You cant smell CO2 but you will still get a strange sicky smell of fumes.
