Flashing between roof tile and gutter

We have just had the guttering replaced and the guy told my wife that we need some sort of flashing?? called something like 'clobber' which goes from the bottom roof tile into the gutter. Apparently you buy these in sections costing about £15 each.

Any idea what this is and why we need it?

This is more than likely what was meant and it is to carry water to the gutter and protect the eaves should the felt rot in time.

Klober comes up on google - roof vents etc.
