Flashing Soakers with Profiled Tiles

Hi, just finishing off my roof on an extension. I've fitted cavity trays with short lead as my BC guy said he wanted soakers on the tiles. The only thing is that I'm using profiled tiles (Redland Renown), which apparently shouldn't have soakers, just stepped flashing.
Is it still fine to use soakers as that's what BC wanted and I don't really have any alternative? Was going to lap them by 150mm.

he doesn't have a clue what his talking about these tiles over lap 3 - 4" s so you will just have loads of ugly soakers showing. you only need lead flashings covering the bold part of tiles. ur wasting time and money with soakers

Cheers for reply Roofspecialistslondon. As I've fitted the cavity trays with pre-installed short lead I've got no choice but to use soakers, or remove lead from trays and replace, which isn't really an option.
Assume there isn't really a problem with soakers apart from uglyness, which isn't a problem as I won't see them, neighbors will!

Its not a problem to do it with soakers.

Ok, cheers for reply. Walking around there's plenty of profiled tiles with soakers and didn't spot to many people crying that their roof wouldn't stop leaking - and I live in Wales

Regards profiled tiles:

As long as the lead flashing covers at least one of the profiles (completely)then water is unlikely to get in. A lot may depend upon how the last tile has been cut in relation to the tiles' profiles.

Flat concrete interlocking tiles do require a soaker, i.e Marley modern, Wessex (possibly) etc. There is a plastic sleeve soaker designed specifically for the Marley Modern, Russels Grampian etc. They come in L/H and R/H accordingly.

Using 240mm lead, about 165 over tile so that it goes into lower bit of profile and 75mm upstand, so should be water tight!
