Hi all. So, our side garden area is being rebuild to make a large bbq area with dining etc.
I have been looking into roofing structures and was intending to go plastisol as it’ll allow for the 3 degree pitch that I can have in the space.
I have however been advised that it’ll be noisy as hell in rain, which defeats the aim really as we want to use the space pretty much year round.
I was wondering about instead of this, is there any restrictions to putting a normal flat roof on? I.e do I need planning permission etc? Essentially it’ll just be a timber framed pergola with a decent roof, but it’ll be connected to the house so not sure on the rules there.
additionally, what is the £/m2 for a flat roof construction?
this area of the house is all flat roof anyway so it’ll tie in pretty well - I mean we could possibly look to connect it to the existing flat roof but that might be a massive undertaking. I was hoping to fit skylights to keep light in the adjoining room.
any thoughts
so in my little sketch - I’ve drawn an angled frame. But I wonder if a flat frame with proper roof would be better - then have skylights that open to keep airflow when bbq is on - and the end would remain open.
you’ll see from photo we’re making a wall instead of the fence I drew
