I have a ground floor bay window with a flat roof. Approx area is 2.5 to 3m squared.
It is rectangular in shape with no surface obstructions and is bounded on two sides by walls.
It is, or was, covered with three sheets of lead sheeting. One's been nicked.

I need to repair the damage and am considering alternatives.
I've ruled out a direct replacement as it will only get pinched again.
I don't want felt as it's not durable enough (in my opinion, anyway).
I don't want to spend a fortune, but it is a very small area to cover.
So, any views on possible alternatives - glass-fibre, EPDM, any others?

i have known mineral felt to out last lead! this was due to the expansion and contraction of the lead leading to buckling splits. ;)

there are few flat roof coverings that will last a lifetime, despite what some companies may claim.

it is down to how well a product is fitted and then being left well alone. in other words ANY flat roof covering is vulnerable to damage.

how big's the budget?

if you live in a ***** active area i suggest mineral felt.

it can last a long time and it does deliver value for money if fitted professionally.

epdm rubber is another slightly more expensive option.

Hi,
I would recommend a felt finish membrane also. It is far more robust than single-ply products, and is more cost effective than lead by far - and less desirable to thieves !!

It depends on cost, but Bauder Ltd provide the best bitumen based membranes on the market, but obviously they ain't cheap. I'd recommend their Bauderflex System (X4U underlayer & X4E capping sheet) as a two layer felt covering - top quality materials.
