Flat Roof Sealed with silicone used for bathroom

I've had a small extension fitted with a flat roof. The builder has sealed the edges of the flat roof with the same silicone he used for the bathroom. The work looks messy and looking at images of other flat roofs on line it does not seem that this should have been done. Any advice would be of great help. Thanks
