Flat roofed house

Hello - I am new to this forum but I think it could prove very useful to me as I am making plans to move house and shall need all the advice I can get! I have been to see a house (1920s-ish) that has a flat roof. Should this worry me unduly?

Any idea what the flat roof material is made of? Does it have wall round the edge? Is it sloped to one side? Do you know how the rainwater is drained?
