I guess I am trying to get a understanding of potential costs before getting structural engineer involved.

I have a bungalow and looking at floating corner post bifold doors to see whether it's within my budget. In terms of the structural work required, does anyone have a guesstimate ?

Red is the area of where I would like the bifold doors and the box is where the floating corner post could be. Thanks

What do you mean floating? Do you mean you'll just have a steel post in the corner with a bifold butting up to it from each side? If so what is the question? How to clad it?

Or do you mean you don't want to have anything in the corner once each bifold is opened?

My understanding is floating corner post is a corner post which is cladded and moves with the bi fold to open up the area (it's not a fixed post)

So not a structural post holding the roof up. In which case the roof structure would need to be cantilevered - likely to involve a steel running vertically (up your drawing) - expensive and very invasive. Much cheaper and easier to just have a post in the corner.

Where the blue line is we are looking to remove the wall which we believe is load bearing and will require a steel, wonder if that would reduce the cost, or increase it.

I am, the blue line you have shown also is an internal wall dividing the kitchen and living room area that we are looking to remove.

Nevertheless your cantilevered steel has to cantilever, if there's no wall for it to sit on then the far end has to go back to the next abutting wall. It can't just balance on the outer wall.
