Hi, i have 2 PIR sensor lights that are constantly on/off all night long and both have subsequently blown the bulbs many times since last summer(gone through a 10pack) anyway i am interested in converting to dusk til dawn floodlights.

like this

Anyway would i have to buy and wire in a proper sensor for this light or is it built in to it?

If the prior how would i do it? would it be wired into the circuit before the light acting as an automatic switch?

thanks and sorry for the newb Q i've looked in the wiki and done a search but there's nothing that quite gets the nail on the head.

thanks

johny

Already there built in - integral photocell.

You just have to connect the usual live, neutral and earth.

You can buy the photo cells off eBay for about £5

Then you simply have three wires, you will need to cut the PIRs out of the circuit for your floods and then it's a neutral (both wires from light and unit to neutral) a load which connects to the live of the light and a live to the sensor which connects to the live feed

Simple as that, your flpods will turn off as Dawn and on at dusk, they take about 30 minutes to settle (the photocells)

they look ok but i think i would prefer the dusk til dawn feature due to the positioning of the actual lights themselves.

thanks for the replies so far

They already incorporate photocells
 They are exactly the same as the ones you highlighted in your initial post - except for half the price. Do you actually know or understand what you want?

i want a light that comes on at dusk and goes off at dawn
simples.

Not a light that is turned on by motion.

i am a little confused quite clearly

I don't think it's you who are confused.

The lamp you linked in your original post is correct (and about the same price in Toolstation)

There have been a couple of confused replies.

I refer you to my original answer.
