floodlight

Jaymack, that was nasty. But correct. More specifically, sully, you have 3 options.

1.Take a spur from the ringmain, fit a switched fused connection unit and wire the light to this, using this also as the switch for it.

2.Take the feed off the light circuit and fit a new switch by the door (though not advised for 500w beasties, as they use half the current capacity of the light circuit).

3.Fit a 13A plug to the light and plug it into a socket.

Should the light be any distance from the house, you will need to use armoured cable clipped to a wall or buried at least 18 inches deep.

best way it SFCU from the ring main or plug. if you do use a fused spur, make sure its got a double pole siwtch on if you have any RCDs (if you get water in it, itll trip the RCD unless both live and neutral are d/c

Can the feed from the light circuit be wired to a switch fused unit to load the flood light?

Why are people assuming that a socket circuit is a Ring and not a Radial?

Short answer - probably best not, it could well be something you`d be better leaving to someone with sufficient expertise.
Do not take offence from that comment.
My next door neighbour is a world renowned brain surgeon, a truly highly intelligent person and a person of high IQ stated by Mensa.
But if my house was on fire and he then slid down a pole and called to put my fire out then I might not be enthusiastic about his abilities to do so unless he had sufficient training.

Hi,

I was hoping to quickly test the Luceco smart light shortly by putting a plug on the flex it came with. Given the info on the box would a 3a or 5a fuse better suited?

Hi all,

I was able to test the light with a plug and 5amp fuse.

I came across a kinetic switch and receiver I bought years back that I didn’t end up using. Was wondering if could test this switch and receiver on the flood light?

If so would all the 3 neutrals go in one wago, 2 earths in one wago and the remaining 3 browns and the grey wire in the last wago?

Thanks
