Hi

I would like to increase the height of the existing joist
Floor by 25mm in order to accommodate under floor heating and match floor height in the other room.

My idea is to fit 25mm battens same direction as the existing joist. Would this be ok with this type of floor. Joist are 4x2 with brick piers at 4' overall joist span is 14'. Or would it be better to cross batten?

Also how wise is it then to fit 18mm engineered floor directly onto the battens with aluminium spreader plates in between?

Thanks for any input.

Yes just simply add the 25 mm battens on top of the existing, a self adhesive foam rubber between them and the joists would provide some soft feel suspension! not exactly necessary of course...pinenot :)
