Most of my loft conversion covers three rooms, of which two are acceptable to fire standards ( Lath & Plaster plus already over boarded etc ). However an area of the front bedroom is only 9mm plasterboard which of course doesn't meet fire regs. This accounts for about 4sqm of the new loft room.

I'd rather not disturb this ceiling as it has some very nice / expensive plaster coving so is there a solution for placing fireproof rock wool ( or similar, suggestions welcome ) between the loft joists ? Would this be acceptable to BC as fire protection ?

You will probably have to use chicken wire or similar to suspend the insulation in case the PB fails.

Yeah I've already got some ready .... I will be installing some form of insulation for sound proofing if nothing else.

Just wondered what product to use for that will be approved as a 30 minute fire barrier.
