Like others who have posted here, I live in a 1st floor flat with a concrete floor above a parking area, which makes the floor extremely cold in winter, even though it is currently carpeted. I am considering a couple of options; either laminate or carpet, with vastly improved insulation, and under-floor heating.
My preferred option is laminate, with Depron insulation, and a carbon mat underfloor heating system. Does anyone have any experience with underfloor heating under laminate? The heating manufacturers say that it works, but won't guarantee it. Also does anyone know if I need a moisture barrier on the 1st floor with concrete? The concrete is about 90yrs old.
If I go with carpet can anyone recommend what to use for insulation? I can't find any figures for the U value of underlay, so don't know how it compares with boards, such as Marmox.
