Just lifted part of the floor in order to put new pipework in for a radiator. Noticed no foam or insulation. While boards are up is it worth putting some wool between joists or something else?

Am on second floor of 3 storey building so be good to improve the sound insulation too. Will be replacing the laminate floor maybe some thin foam board on top of the ply would help before putting new floor down?

Mineral wool batting, sawn or knifed to fit snugly, might be a good option. Good for noise attention as well

Suggest you Google

"ash deafening"

in general, two strips of timber are fitted to the sides of the joists in the ceiling void, cheap ply can then be inserted to fit between the two timber strips then the deafening can be filled into the area just constructed.

A modern version of Ash Deafening is "Quietex"
