I'm about to start work on a building a sub floor. Old barn which currently has a concrete floor. I just have a question about the cupporting joists.
Im laying 4x2s, which will have OSBs on top. Under these I'll be laying the central heating 22mm pipes.
I have treated timber base supports running round the perrimeter of the room supporting the stud wall. I was going to run my joists wall to wall (well not wall, up to the supports), but just realised that will make a lot of hard work when I run the 22mm pipes....as Ill have to cut a hole in each joist.
Is it acceptable to leave a small gap at the ends of each joist, rather than run the joists wall to wall, in order to allow space for the 22mm plumbing pipes. Im effect it would mean around 70mm of the osb being insupported at the ends....although some of that will be taken up when the plasterboard goes on top.
Cheers guys.
