Hi Guys and Gals. I have a hallway floor that is about 10mm lower than the two connecting floors (bathroom/ kitchen). Bathroom and kitchen are both tiled and I would like to tile the hallway but I have to make up the 10mm difference to meet the tiles in the doorways. I know that thicker tiles are an option but I allready have a tile that I would like to use. Can anybody give me any advice on how to go about this ? Any help will greatly be apprciated... Kev ...

Are we talking about a wood or a solid floor?
Is the 10mm the difference in height now, or if you lay a tile down (without adhesive)?
How big of an area are we talking about?

gcol, I apologise for the lack of info. It's an 8m sq. concrete floor and if I put a tile down dry there's a 12mm height difference. The old tiles, before I removed them, had a lip going into each doorway. A bit too dangerous for my liking. Thanks for your reply... Kev...

So all you need to do is put down about an 8mm layer of self levelling compound, then tile as normal.
You'll probably need about five 25kg bags to do 8 square metres.

Gcol, it's on the shopping list. I've put down sand/cement screed before but because this was such a thin layer to make up I wasn't sure what to use. Thanks for your advice and time. It's really appreciated... Kev ...
