I am told by the suppliers I contacted that the ready mix for floor
screeds cannot be poured directly onto the floor with a chute. They say
that they can only dump a big pile of ready mix onto the ground and we
have to carry it all by wheelbarrow to the floor. Is this true?

Another questions, they say that the ready mix for floors where you will
install underfloor heating has to have the fibre reinforcement, is this
true as well?

I am wondering if we could mix the material with the fibres ourselves
as I do not see a great advantage in paying up to £1100 they have quoted (the price of my block and beam floor) for a pile of concrete that we will have to carry ourselves before it sets and becomes a concrete pyramid.

floor screed is a relatively dry mix and in no way resembles poured concrete.

it cannot be pumped or even treated in a similar way to readymixed concrete.

fibres will help bind it together as will chickenwire mesh. screed does dry brittle and is prone to cracking or separating from the slab, particularly where temperature differences are concerned.
