Hi guys,
i'm planing to re-tile my kitchen floor myself but don't know how. We tried to remove the old tiles but didn't do so well and We heard that lay tiles over tiles has a much better grip than tiles over concrete is that true? Is it necessary that we have to remove the old tile or can tile over tile do the same job and get the same quality?

Best practice would be to remove tiles.

You don't know how well the tiles have been stuck down originally.

Then I would use a self levelling compound to smooth over. Then you will have a nice flat surface to tile onto.

Thanks guys,

I've decided to removed the old tiles as you said it, thanks goodness I used the power tool and can you imagine my shoulders is killing me. I'm so nacked but couldn't get to sleep cuz of the pain is too great. It's awful but I'm very pleased with the result, now all I have to do is start ripping the kitchen work tops and re paint the wall with brighter colour paint then the tilling to finishing touch with new worktops and cupboards re installing in a few days time. Once again thanks for the advise big help!
