OK, so I was going to put laminate flooring down in the kitchen, but now thinking about tiles.
I don't have much space, clearance under the backdoor to concrete floor is about 15mm, and we want space for a thin doormat.

I've seen some 8mm tiles which are not that expensive. I've never tiled though ... how much adhesive is used - what would be the tile depth once fitted? I assume just a couple of mm on a floor, but totally guessing...

I was going with 3mm underlay and 7 or 8mm laminate, so either option will hopefully leave about 5mm for a thin mat.

Kitchen is already fitted, so will need to cut around end boards on units etc. Maybe laminate easier with my jigsaw...

Door height does not dictate tile depth , it can be trimmed .
You could leave a carpet well and tile around it at back door.

yeah, it's the back door. I did think about carpet well. I like the idea, my wife is not so keen. She wants something that can be easily removed and cleaned ...
