Floor tiles

hi everyone just thought id throw this one out there, how strong should floor tiles be to a bathroom? are there seperate type of tiles for kitchen floors to bathroom or are they the same? and if there is going to be a table and chairs etc on the tiles do they need to be a thicker type than normal? are tiles designed to with stand for example an 18stone man on step ladders without breaking

Floor tiles that are well laid should be strong enough to withstand what you have mentioned.Hollow spots/voids in the adhesive are what create weak points as there is no support.

All tiles are brittle & their strength will only be as good as the support provided by the tile base; the most important thing is that the tile base is rigid, free from any appreciable flexing & the tile adhesive is laid using a solid bed trowel so the tiles are fully supported.

A suspended timber floor obviously requires more careful assessment & preparation than a solid concrete floor but properly laid, tiles will easily cope with tables, chairs & even large folks on step ladders.

so would it be best to use a flat trowel if it needs building up rather than a notched trowel and if im gonna use a notched trowel on the floor what size should it be 10mm or 6mm

Don’t use a flat trowel, the tile level will be all over the place; use a 10mm curved notch trowel.
