Floorboard broken under carpet

One of the floorboard seems to be broken under the carpet.
What should I do?

How can I remove the carpet. make a fix and then put carpet back into the grippers?

Usually just roll the carpet back from a corner, do what you need, then roll it over the gripper rods again, jumping it as necessary if it isn't quite there. If it's a complex area like stairs you can always get a decent carpet fitter to remove and refit it.

I'm sure I can do what you suggest.
The only thing I was unsure of was refitting?
The carpet fitters have a device they use their knees to push the edges of the carpet. Surely I need this to put the carpet back?

You're referring to a carpet stretcher. If the carpet has been down for a while it should just drop back into place onto the gripper rods.

Yes you can kick it a bit if necessary, or you can hire one of the stretchers if you really have a problem

May not be broken floorboard, if there is hardboard under carpet a loose piece could flap giving the impression of a broken board ( especially in a door way).
