tell the council plumbers that! last time i was workin in the same house they cut a floorboard for us (since we lacked a circular saw). and went thru 2 of their pipes!

depends on what exactly you want
the usual is cut off centre on the joists using a circular saw to miss the nails or remove the screws and cut centraly cutting half a mm less than the thickness of the board to avoid damaging services
and where you cut across the boards or off the joist you secure a batton on the sides to sit the "trapdoor in "and securely screw down to prevent sqeeking :D :D

The easiest, if you need to make a lot of acces holes in chipboard flooring is the Trend Routabout for use with a router. It cuts a circular hole into which can be fitted plastic rings into which you put the inner circle.

The easiest way is just to rip them up with a crow-bar.

The Routabout is pretty good if you know *exactly* where you want the hole, and you can't see through the chipboard to determine that, of course. Get it wrong by a few inches and you're cream-crackered!

(I haven't got shares in Trend either, but they are a 10-minute drive from me, which can be handy when I urgently need something of theirs!)

Cheers,

Howard
