Hi,

We're getting our carpets done in a few weeks and thought we'd use the opportunity to have a look at a few loose floorboards when we pulled up the carpet. One of the floorboards seems to be resting on the pipes that run under the floorboards to the radiator in the room, which makes a pretty nasty rattling sound when you tread on it.

I've uploaded a picture of it (not sure if it'll help but just in case). Only thought I had was if you could put something between the floorboard and pipe to cushion the blow, but then thought probably not the best idea as the pipes going to get pretty hot. My guess is the only way is to get a plumber in to move the pipes down so they arent being hit but is there anything else that could possibly be done?

Any help appreciated.

Thanks.

i am suspecting your floorboards will be around 20-24mm ??
what size are they ?
you could get 3 or 6mm thinner board and use strips off hardboard to make up the thickness

Or cut channels in the floorboard above the pipe using a saw and a chisel to give clearance where the pipes are

Thanks for both replies.

big - Yes they're 22mm I think. So purchase thinner boards and then raise where they're screwed in to make up the thickness with hardboard? Sound idea.

Knock - thats a good idea, dunno how I didnt think of that. I might give this a go first.

Thanks again.
