Will be sanding and laquering an old floorboard soon and whilst most of the boards will be nailed down, for a couple I will use screws to help with lifting them in future. I dont mind the fact that these minimal screws will be on show, but just wondered if the varnish will gunk up the screw heads. Any thoughts please?

Don’t worry, you’ll be able to pick the varnish out when the time comes. Usually the screwdriver grips well enough anyway.

Use Torx screws, much more effective with clogged screw heads than Pozi are.
