Flue collar

Just had British Gas round for the Annual service, Of our Alpha Boiler located in the loft.

He informed me of two things that should be done.

1) Carbon Monoxide detector, Didn't say where it needs to be and anyway if it was in the loft we wouldn't hear it. I understand that safety is No1. Is this true.

2) Flue collar not screed to wall. Is this correct thought they where just push fit over the flue against the wall.

Co alarm for the boiler is pointless imho.

Flue should be sealed but how that is achieved depends on the manufacturers instructions.
