Hi Guys,

Boiler is Worcester Bosch Greenstar I

I'm having a lean too built. There's only 100mm between the roof and the intake on the termination above

300mm is required I gather.

Moving the flue up inside is not an option due to staircase. 150mm max..
So the only option is horizontal out of boiler through behind wall (as it is now) 90 up 1m (could be 0.5m?) then 90 to horizontal with termination. ugly yes! But want it safe.
Then I came across this..

https://www.worcester-bosch.co.uk/p.../faqs/all-faqs/can-i-run-boiler-flues-outside

Now you can run flue outside the white flue too?

So I was informed by 2 RGI'S that it can't be done.
Both have now confirmed on the phone with Worcester Bosch and apparently it can be done as long as joints are sealed and clamped to wall .

What do you guys think ? Obviously I want it done properly.

It's being fitted today , Just had a message.

I'm just hoping it's ok. It's the only option .

I've looked everywhere and cannot see a similar installation. However Worcester Bosch have confirmed twice it is O.K. over the phone..

Just want to make sure it's all safe and accessable for yearly inspection

It's a year old under warranty

Yep . Taking no chances

As @dilalio mentions though, I'd send them an e- mail and get a direct response from them and get that printed rather than a FAQ off the website (put your name and address in it). That way it's a personal confirmation direct from them rather than a general website comment.

Do they actually mean the white flue components or the plume management kits purposely designed for outside. You need proper confirmation that the white sections can be run outside...a phone call means nothing and many technical staff have zero technical qualifications or authority to make such a decision.

Yeah the white flue.
The guy has called them 3 times and we are awaiting written confirmation now .

Apparently the flue is now designed so it may be outside

Can you not just use a plume management kit? I know you are not supposed to retro fit them but who would know

Yes they allow it outside now

As long as it’s fitted to Manufacturers Instructions I wouldn’t stress about it ;)

I have it in writing from them now

Thank you for your enquiry.

We can confirm that the Worcester condensfit gas flues can be ran externally. They are UV stable. All external joints should be suitably weather sealed.
