I knocked out holes for 2 new airbricks, but still not sealed them in place - they're just sitting in the holes I made. I bought a tub of mortar and a little trowel, but after spraying about a million cubic feet of foam, I am probably more skillful with the foam gun than the mortar trowel.

Is there any reason not to just fit the airbricks in place with foam? I could finish the job I started 3 1/2 months ago in a few minutes!

If it looking crap wont do, how about the sun rotting the foam by the end of June?

Well, its on the side of the house where nobody ever goes (locked gate, fenced off) apart from the poor sod who has to remove bricks, and faces west. So, nobody will see it. I could even mortar a little on the outside, to make it look proper ...

although, maybe time I learned how to mix mortar and use it .... just seems a bit fiddly. Can mortar be applied with a cake icing type of device, by any chance?

look what I found ... worth a go?

oh, that looks much easier. Mortar in a bottle, well I never!
And I get to use my new gun again!

although on reading some reviews, sounds like they don't exactly flow easily. I reckon foam to fix in place and then finish with the small trowel I use for filler will do the trick.

I have seen a roofer fit a plastic airbrick in using silicone sealant.

Damnit hadn't thought of that; Phew, just remembered it was in the disused chimney for ventilation.
