I'm fitting new wooden windows into not too good brickwork and want to seal the gap with expanding foam. Is it much better/easier to use a foam gun and gun grade foam rather than just the cans?

In my experience it is no better or any easier to use Gun grade foam and an applicator gun. The main thing to remember is to keep the can upside down as you use it. Oh and don't get it all over your hands and then get them dirty because it is a bugger to clean off afterwards.

Thanks, do the hand cans come with a nozzle or spout of some sort to get it where you need it?

when you buy it in a can the can has* a "straw" attached to it

* make sure it has, some times they have been "borrowed"

Gun is way better and reusable.
If your not experienced with foam I would recommend masking taping a sheeting out everything just to be sure, Especially if they are expensive pre finished windws

Put in less than you think you need.

It expands quite slowly.

If you fill it up to the surface, you will have a big riidge to cut off after.
