At our local Focus DIY (formerly S0D-IT-ALL) a third of the floor has been cleared of shelves and staff tell me the place is going to be filled with pallets of cheap household stuff from China, while the store will be re-branded "No Frills". The place has been like the Marie Celeste for a couple of years and they can't even afford - or be bothered - to fix the leaks in the roof.

What's the betting they close by June?

I went to one in Newark last week - dead expensive but the tills had queues at them. They just need to get competitive.

And the stuff they stock is crap compared to the local B&Q warehouse.

So which is the better crap....Focus or B&Q....FIGHT!!!

I can get discount in Focus most of the year. Find B&Q very, very expensive for many things.

They need to give discount to get people who don't know any better to buy their crap.

You are talking about the wrong shop here. Wilkinson are the masters for selling cheap poor quality ****.

I wouldn't buy anything from them again as I always needed to replace anything bought from them. Latest is the handle fell off a stainless steel spade bought approx a yr ago!

Bahco i have had the same spade for 35 years its only ever had 4 new handles and 3 new blades in that time.

Sorry could not resist

Focus went into receivership a few years ago and some outlets were bought by Wickes outright and others still traded under the focus name - I think these are owned by an equity company and were treading water?

Our local Focus has been a depressing basic shed for many years, with no real cheap or quality stuff, but occasional 'sale' frenzies which the pensioners love

Focus must be one of the most badly managed businesses in the country. There's one near me and there is always a queue at the till because there's something wrong with a barcode.

Same as our store in Aldridge, there are hardly any lightbulbs. The staff all look like they cant be bothered to be there as well. Some of the stuff is actually well priced, other things are silly prices. Bit like Homebase.
