I need to cover a wall in an old property where the wall has been saturated with salt from hanging bacon sides :D

I have sealed the area and now want to cover the whole wall with foil backed plasterboard.

As it is the hallway and the stairs come into play I do not want to batten out.

Is there a good adhesive for fixing boards to wall?

thanks for any help you can supply. :D

You need Dot & Dab plasterboards adhesive.

I'm not sure about this one but it might be a idea to peel back the silver foil for the adhesive to bond to the paper of the plasterboard.

There is more information on the British Gypsum website.

Thanks for info. went to BG site and phoned.

Adhesive will not work on foil backed boards was answer.

Could do what you suggested.

On thinking about it I may be able to get away with standard 12mm boards as there will be a slight gap between the wall surface and boards which will stop the salt bridging.

The area of salt saturated wall is only about 1.5sq.m but I have to do the whole wall to make look right, a bit of a pain

I can but try.

if you peel all the foil off there is no point in having it in the first place is there? you might as well purchase 12.5mm normal boards and then stick em on. think i would try and look for some sort of stabiliser solution to paint the wall with first just to keep your mind at ease, i'm not saying the salt will bleed through but it could and you don't want to have to do the job twice.
