Looking for advice on size, depth of footings needed for a 7m x 4m block and beam terrace. Need to raise approx 1m above lawn level. Ground is well drained with rocky substrate.

Footprint size is irrelevant, regards the footings. Wall thickness, height and loading are more important as are the ground conditions. A good indicator (depth wise) will be your existing foundations, but by no means nailed on. The standard typical depth is 1m, but this can vary, especially if your existing foundations are deeper or there are deep drains in close proximity.

Ok thanks. So if wall thickness is 215mm block and max height around 1000mm carrying block and beam plus patio flags then how do I work out trench depth and footing cross-sectional dimension?

450mm (min) width foundation trench, down to 'good' bearing ground.
