Whilst preparing the front brakes for new pads I noticed the discs were scored etc so decided to swap them.

This requires the removal of the brake anchor bracket. The 13mm head bolts holding this bracket are seized on. It is possible that I will damage these getting them out, and have tried to purchase replacements from the Ford dealer in advance. They can only sell me an entire bracket assembly which is £60 a side! Does anyone have any tips here to help me:-

1. Remove the bolts without damaging them
2. Obtain replacements - I may be able to get aircraft grade bolts from work if I can get the size and thread pitch

Also the anchor bracket has a chromed rod which the caliper moves on - there is a rubber seal at one end of this rod which is torn. Again, Ford cannot supply me with just the seal. Are there any places anyone knows of where I can get a replacement seal. It's only to keep dirt off the sliding faces I think, so does it have to be identical or would a similar one do?

Any help would be really appreciated as I am on a really tight budget but will not be happy re-assembling with damaged bolts and seals.

the bolts and seal are available separately. talk to the parts guy that has a clue. all dealers have one, just have to get throught the money grabbing, just sell complete assemblies, guys first. i wouldn't recommend using anything other than the correct bolt.

OK I will try another dealer a bit further away.

Gets on my nerves all this "we only sell the assembly" rubbish. Might as well have tried to sell me a new car!!

If you're on about the caliper carrier bolts, get a decent ring spanner on them and give them a clout with a hammer.......... theyre tight so they dont fall off
