Symptoms:

Engine management light (no codes)
Limp mode

What I have done so far

Cleaned all sensors
Serviced Fuel Injectors
Serviced EGR valve

Once the engine is up to temperature, no engine management light comes and at high revs it is lovely and smooth. However at idle it's rough.

I hope someone can offer some suggestions or it's car heaven I think.

Cheers, Graham.

I'll throw it there: Camshaft speed sensor.
My friend's focus had rough idle and engine management light on and after many failed attempts of repair, that's what it was.

I presume a decent diagnostic garage (Facebook seems to be where they all show off) could help - they can look at levels and parameters when the engine is running.

Thank you both.

I have ordered a MAF sensor as it makes no difference if it’s connected or not. Next I will try the speed sensor.

Cdbe, I am trying all the cheap stuff first but I am stubborn so will get in an ‘expert as a last resort!

This is what is so annoying John. Reading through numerous threads and articles, it appears that codes are not always thrown out, especially with fuel and air issues. Of course, it could be my cheap code reader as I have heard they have limited functionality.

If it throws the engine light on, there will be at least 1 code

My mondeo used to go into limp mode with no codes, it was the fuel lift pump.
