Hello,

My partner drives a Ford Fiesta (Mark 6 I think) and she had attached an Ambi-Pure air-freshener to one of the air vents. The air-freshener has now leaked and melted some of the plastic on her dash. I haven't seen the extent of the damage yet, as the car is now at work with my partner.

However, I was wondering how much sections of the dashboard cost, as there doesn't seem to be much for the specific parts on the internet? Additionally, would I need to get a professional mechanic to fit any dashboard parts or is it a job you can do yourself?

Any advice would be most welcome!

Go to your local breaker he will have one (hopefully) at half the price of new.

Fitting may be difficult enough, not sure to be honest. I never had the pleasure.

If just the vent is damaged, then relatively easy to repair, just pull the vent out..

However, if you want to replace the dash, that is a BIG JOB!....I've replaced items from the dash, including seats out, to facilitate the repair, so I'd accept the fault, and live with it.

I have now seen the relevant part of the dash on the internet for around £100.00. Might do even better from a breaker.

However, it is not just the vent, it is the entire central console!

Without knowing too much about how the car goes together it looks to me like it would be a major job. Could well be that the cost of fitting the part would be cost-prohibitive when you add the price of the part on as well!

These things are sent to try us.
