Ford focus 1999 over reving

Hi

I have a 1999 Ford Focus with 87k miles on it. I find that when i press the throttle down that the rev counter will go straight up but the speed will not. Its a big problem if i am going up hill and im at 2000 rvs i will press the throttle and it will go staright to 5000 revs but no change inspeed for a good few seconds. It just feels slugish.

What is wrong with the car could it be clutch or some sort of throttle sensors? What am i looking at in terms of cost of repairs?

The clutch is slipping big time...ring around for quotes, and you may find people like Mr. Clutch or similar will give you the best price. Cheers John
