if you accidently drop something down the air vent on the top of the dashboard.....how do you get it back??....i expected it would just fall straight through and come out underneath....but it didnt....any clues??..

Do you mean the screen de misters. If so what did you drop down

I'm afraid you have to release the air pipes as they descend down towards the blower fan or pollen filter....it can be very awkward trying to do a handstand in the passenger footwell!

It won't do any harm down there - may rattle a bit though!
Its usually car park tickets I find down there....

Sorry, keys generaly non ferrous ( no iron) metal, so they do'nt rust. Therefore not magnetic.
Anyway the next post would be "anyone know how to retreive a magnet from my demisters"
I know an old lady who swallowed a fly etc.

Before I made that post, I ran a magnet over my house keys, they were magnetic.
After I read your post, I tested all my keys, results?
All the mortice keys were magnetic.
My car key is magnetic.
The Yale type keys were 50/50
So still might be worth a try.

The air duct pipes aren't particularly hard to get apart - if you can find a join!
If you can drop the carpet type trim above where your knees would be, you could find what you're looking for. However.....don't yank the pipes apart with force - they could easily disconnect higher up!
