Please - anybody help with Foundation depth when tree removed? Tree is mature Ash recently topped (crown removed) - 6m from foundation.

Barn built 25 yrs ago with 1m foundations 450/550 block/concrete. Now being converted. Building control say depth of foundations need increasing despite we would remove tree.

Grading was quite heavy to get level site which is 0.5 to 1m below original ground level. I think this should be taken into account in deciding foundation depth and have found some hope in attached image in NHBC section 4.2.9 - it seems like I can go for b) but that seems too simple. Any better interpretation?

Grateful for any suggestions....
