France: copper pipe sizes.

I have to do an installation on my holiday later this week.

Is there a 28 mm ( od ) pipe size commonly available in France which will interchange with the UK size?

There seems to be some Imperial pipe threads in this property. Do they use matching 1", 1 1/2" imperial pipe threads in France?

Are adapters between 28 mm copper and Imperial sizes commonly available in the Bricolages?

Hi Tony The copper is available in coiled lengths (le cuivre recuit)up to 5o metres or straight lengths ( le cuivre e'croui) normally 2m or 3m lengths available
in 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, and 20 mm inside diameter which you can insert in each size ie no need for reducers
All the threaded is standard bsp thread hope this helps
P.S its all brazed , where abouts in france are you going?

Did some work earlier this year out in france
they have 28mm and 22mm which fits our pipe, the only difference is theirs is a lot thicker. the other main sizes they use are 12mm 14 mm 16mm.
the cheapest place i found was brico, pretty much the same as b&q here.
the plumbers merchants i found were quoting me double their prices.

When Ryanair would charge you if the flight attendant were to smile at you, I can assure you that all I am taking is four olives and four nuts to keep me going during the flight!

In their infinite wisdom, the French think that they drive on the right side of the road.

Even the RAC and the AA seem to agree with them and remind the Brits to drive on the right side of the road in France.

Dave I think Tony might have been in the Boy Scouts and so just in case the pilot is forced to make an announcement along the line of a hydraulic failure resulting in the loss of landing gear he will, as the scout motto says 'Be Prepared'.

Think of it in the same way as in case of a medical emergency where they ask if there is a doctor on board; here the announcement might be 'Is there a plumber on board'.

No it won't, but 14mm will fit inside 15mm tube with a touch of persuasion, where it cold be soldered or brazed.

If you know any locals ask them, if they'll speak to you Engerlanders(Roast Beefs)..........

I always use Antares & a small local supplier when working in France.

For water & C/heating services 12, 14 + 16mm copper is most common & can be inter-connected as stated above.
28mm is also available.
