Free Ad Blockers

Are there really any ad blockers which are truly free?
I have searched for some online and one always pops up right at the top: 'Total Ad Block', which assures me that it is free.
Further searches and clicking on the advert, and immediately up comes the cost!
Do Windows or Edge include their own ad blockers?

uBlock origin is 100% free and completely trustworthy.

ublock origin pro (?) is a snide version that will ask you pay later.

I use it both on Edge and Chrome.

Edge is now Chromium based (open source). Chrome is built on chromium but with proprietary bells and whistles.

The app will stop many, but not all adverts.

My understating is that uBlock doesn't transmit any data back.

Beware that Youtube are preventing the use of them though.

Although youtube ad skipper is still preventing me seeing them.

Thank you both for your advice.
I have since added Ad Block as an Edge extension.
Unlike other ad blockers, some with very similar names, which ask for a regular payment for the use of their service, this Edge extension doesn't demand any up-front payment.
Instead, it suggests a voluntary one-off donation, which I find far more acceptable than an up-front payment.
I shall give this Ad Block extension a go and, if it is as good as I expect it to be, I shall certainly donate.

you have to block the source and take control of your DNS server. Have a look at pi-hole....
