freezer clearances

I've bought a freestanding freezer. It fits in the space ... just ... with no more than 5mm gap either side. There's a gap of approx. 5" between the rear of the unit and the wall, plus there's nothing above it i.e. no worktop. I know there's supposed to be slightly more space all around, however given larger space at rear plus free airflow at the top, am I okay to leave the unit in this space?

Please say 'yes' as I've nowhere else to put it!

Not so sure about that, there seems to be standard entries into instruction manuals with no up-dating as technology moves on, there was a problem using single phase refrigeration compressors if there is a large volt drop, so the manual says "Don't use extension leads" however when the three phase motors with inverter drives came out the instruction was not removed, it still says "Don't use extension leads".

Until you reach the point where the room is so cold that the drain holes for the auto de-frost freeze the colder the unit the better. The units fall into bands +10°C ~ +32°C = SN, +16°C ~ +32°C = N, +16°C ~ +38°C = ST, and +16°C ~ +43°C = T. So in general terms +32°C is quite warm, even with poor ventilation you are unlikely to exceed that. If it were my unit I would dangle the probe for my in/out door thermometer and see what it reaches, if under 32°C I would not worry.
